Poker Hands 101

In gambling, the most popular game right this moment would have to be poker. And if you don’t know how to play poker yet then it’s high time you learned because you’re missing all the fun!

Poker hands are the essence of the game of poker. Poker hands decide who wins and who loses. Poker hands are the first thing you have to learn if you want to play poker. Unfortunately, however, poker hands for some people take a bit of time to learn because there are a lot of rules governing them.

The counting system used in poker to place value on poker hands is more complex than what players are used to when it comes to other card games like Blackjack. Poker hands are not only counted for their face or numerical value but also according to their suits.

Arrangement or combination counts as well for poker hands and that’s why studying poker hands can be quite complex. But don’t give up yet. We plan to make our Poker Hands 101 very simple so that you’ll be able to play poker reasonably well after reading this article.

The first of the poker hands to learn are single cards. If all poker players have single cards as their poker hands, the one with the highest value – that would be the Ace or nearest to it – wins.

The next of the poker hands to learn would be the pairs. Poker hands of this type are simply made up of a pair of cards like two 7’s or two Q’s.

Next in our list of poker hands to learn would be the three of a kind. As the name implies already, poker hands of this type are comprised of 3 cards of the same value. For poker hands of this kind, the one w/the highest value wins.

Third highest in our list of poker hands to learn would be a full house. Poker hands described as such are a combination of a pair and three of a kind (K K 7 7 7).
